Exchange Closures Workshop

Registration is now closed for this event

Over the next 10 years, Openreach will close 4,500 of its approx. 5,500 exchanges. This fundamental change in network architecture will mean that many of Openreach’s regulated products will either change or cease to be provided in locations where AltNets use them today or plan to use them tomorrow. This workshop will look at which products are likely to be affected and how.

Beginning with an analysis of Openreach's regulated products and how they depend on exchange locations, we will work with specific examples to understand what the closures will mean to Altnets with different business models (e.g. those who use EADs and OSAs for backhaul, those who use PIA combined with colocation, those who use the DFX product for backhaul, and other models).

In the workshop, participants will identify the areas which cause most concern and determine whether INCA should request that Ofcom engages directly with the exchange closure programme. Ofcom has already indicated that they want to understand how the closures will impact on how Altnets use the PIA product.

Join the workshop to learn more about the implications of the proposed closures, share your knowledge and insights, and collaborate with other INCA member organisations to shape a common strategy.
