2017 will be another important year in the development of superfast broadband services across the UK. As the phase 1 and 2 projects complete to deliver the 95% coverage target by the end of the year, the phase 3 procurements are also taking place.
This is an important opportunity for INCA members, and we think it is important that local authorities have an opportunity to discuss their requirements with the independent sector before they go out to formal procurement to allow for open discussion.
INCA is working with BDUK to run a series of engagement sessions as the projects finalise their requirements and expectations. This first event with Central Superfast is on the Cranfield University Campus on 22nd February to discuss the superfast broadband needs for Central Bedfordshire, Bedford Borough and Milton Keynes. Subject to final approval the value of the project is £3.48m.
Central Superfast is a partnership led by Central Bedfordshire Council, in collaboration with Bedford Borough, Luton and Milton Keynes Councils to deliver superfast broadband to local residents and businesses.
INCA members interested in this procurement opportunity are encouraged to attend, and sponsorship opportunities are available for members who want to promote their capabilities in this area.
This is the first of a series of Local Authority Supplier Engagement Events for 2017, organised by INCA working with BDUK, designed to help local government engage more easily and informally with the independent sector.
These events are free to attend.
