INCA Ultra-Connected Cities Seminar 30 April 2013

Purpose

Many cities are looking at programmes to facilitate ultra-fast, gigabit fibre connections to support digital business growth, alongside high speed wireless services to enhance connectivity and digital inclusion. DCMS has recently consulted private sector organisations on the proposed Urban Broadband Fund (UBF) approach. A number of cities are considering radical new approaches to encourage significant private investment in 'Transformational Digital Infrastructure'.

This INCA seminar will bring together cities that are part of the UBF programme, others that are planning major digital projects outside the UBF and private sector organisations willing to invest and deliver new fibre and wireless networks. The discussion will focus on cities' ambitions, desired outcomes for enhanced digital infrastructure and services, funding and procurement approaches that facilitate new investment.
