The Infrastructure and Projects Authority is hosting an industry briefing event to provide an important update on the Digital Infrastructure Investment Fund.

The event is aimed primarily at those businesses that develop, build, own and/ or operate digital networks and infrastructure, and who may be interested in accessing private, commercial finance now or in the future.  Advisers active in this area, as well as research analysts, are also welcome to attend, subject to availability.

Sector Strategy Workshop

A group of leaders from the altnets came together on 28th June in a Sector Strategy workshop, followed by dinner with senior government officials. The focus was on growth scenarios, how policy and regulation can do more to support the altnets and collaborative activities that can help the sector as a whole. Actions coming out of the event include an update to the 2016 ‘Building Gigabit Britain’ report which helped shape government policy. Please let us know if you want to get involved.

Full Fibre & 5G Seminar - 12th July, London

The Conservative manifesto reiterated commitments to the Universal Service Obligation, 'major fibre spines in over a hundred towns and cities’, connection vouchers for companies and '10m premises connected to full fibre and a clear path to national coverage over the next decade.’ For mobile and fixed wireless operators there were no additional promises beyond the 5G Strategy published in March.

On 12th July INCA will hold a Full Fibre and 5G Seminar to discuss how these policies are shaping up. Representatives of government will speak about their plans to support the Full Fibre and 5G strategy, along with Ofcom and industry players. We have a few places still available, more info and registration here.

Many thanks to ESRI & 3GIS for sponsoring the workshop.

SDN/NFV Seminar - HMS Belfast

It was a really useful session with speakers from Adtran, Vodafone, Colt, CityFibre, Zeetta Networks and Aria Networks. Robert Curran of Aria has kindly written up this blog post capturing many of the key points discussed.
