INCA Conference 2023 & Awards Dinner

This year's INCA Conference is at The National Conference Centre in Birmingham. The Conference runs over two days in November, includes the 2023 INCA Awards Dinner, and brings together the people who together are at the forefront of building and operating the independent fibre and wireless networks that underpin Gigabit Britain.

We will announce further details of the conference programme, keynote speakers, etc as they are confirmed.

The focus of previous INCA conferences has been on building new digital infrastructure, particularly full fibre, and the policy and regulatory environment needed to support a competitive market. This year we will celebrate the success of the Altnets in reaching 25% of all UK households, but we'll also be focussing on attracting customers onto these new networks and how the rate of adoption can be accelerated. The conference will hear from AltNet leaders who are successfully building local and regional brands with high levels of consumer confidence and trust. We will also discuss the conditions and prospects for wholesale service offers through third party ISPs and value-added propositions.

In May we published the annual INCA report with Point Topic which showed that despite the economic headwinds investment in the Altnets and build rates have remained robust. However new entrants and early stage companies face a much tougher challenge raising funds than was previously the case. Increasingly we see the conversation turning towards an inevitable consolidation in the sector. This will no doubt be a hot topic for debate (and corridor conversations) amongst participants.

Government and Ofcom set the policy and regulatory conditions that affect the success of the competitive sector. We will hear the latest position from senior representatives from DSIT, BDUK and Ofcom and consider what support the Altnets need to thrive in the face of ever more aggressive behaviour from BT Openreach. We will also hear from INCA members that have won BDUK Project Gigabit contracts.

One of the great benefits of participating in INCA’s Conference is the ability to learn from suppliers to the Altnets about their latest offerings, and to have relaxed conversations with your peers from across the industry. We will have a full roster of sponsors and exhibitors with technical workshops and sessions during the course of the two days.

And in keeping with our aim of celebrating success, the Awards Dinner on 21st November will see INCA members competing for awards in a range of categories, with the winners taking away one of the coveted (and weighty) INCA 'Golds'.
