A new report has today revealed that the UK’s independent network providers increased full-fibre coverage by 30% in 2018, reaching almost 1.3 million premises. Compiled for INCA by Point Topic, using data from independent network operators, the report – ‘Metrics for the UK independent network sector’ – puts the total number of premises passed or addressed by altnets at nearly 3.32 million premises. The DCMS Rural Gigabit Connectivity programme has £200m to invest in fibre infrastructure for the public sector via a new Dynamic Purchasing System. It covers fibre infrastructure of all kinds: managed network services, connectivity, lit or dark fibre, ducts and streetworks. The procurement is to start in Q3 2019 and is currently in market engagement so there is still time for you to get involved as a supplier if you're quick.
